Emu War
The Emu War was a wildlife management operation undertaken in Australia in 1932. Although farmers were expected shoulder most of the responsibility for curbing the population, the military (armed with Lewis guns) was called in, thus the name. The attempt to cull the population largely failed: farmers asked for military assistance again in 1934, 1943, and 1948.
