St. Lawrence River

The St. Lawrence River connects the Great Lakes with the Atlantic Ocean.  Jacques Cartier arrived there on St. Lawrence's feast day, thus the name.

Memphis

Memphis is located on the Mississippi River.  The river is the western border of the city.

The Iskar River is the longest in Bulgaria, at 230 miles. A tributary of the Danube, it flows near eastern Sofia, the capital.

Bonn, the capital of West Germany until 1990, is located on the Rhine river.

St. Louis, Missouri, is located on the eastern border of the state, on the western bank of the Mississippi River (which forms the border with Illinois). The Mississippi, Missouri, and Illinois rivers converge north of the city (thus the flag design); however, the River des Peres is within the city and flows into the Mississippi.

MacKenzie River

The MacKenzie River is the longest in Canada. Located within the Northwest Territories, it is 1080 miles long. It originates at the Great Slave Lake and was formerly named Disappointment River because it did not lead to Alaska. What cheery names these Canucks have, eh?

The Tower Bridge is a bascule and suspension bridge close to the Tower of London that spans the Thames River.

Kansas City, Missouri, is located at the confluence of the Missouri and Kansas (or Kaw) Rivers, on the western border of the state. It abuts Kansas City, Kansas.

The Grand Canyon, an immense gorge in Arizona, was carved out by the Colorado River over millions of years.

The Aar (also Aare) is the longest river in Switzerland, at 183 miles. It flows from the Alps to the Rhine.

The Taj Mahal is located in the city of Agra, on the Yamuna River.

The Bou Regreg is a river in Morocco, located between Rabat and Salé. Its estuary is Wadi Sala.
